She really develop from the beginning to the end. I'll overlook this read, to be honest. I felt Wilson did a wonderful job of showcasing just how much a fish-out-of-water Khamsin is when she first arrives in Wynter's kingdom. It also became more focused on the romance, pushing Kham and Wynter closer together. I regret nothing, because this book is so worth it! Once they're married they might be separated physically but not in the way that I would call it a "separation".

When I finished my reading binge, I was glad to see that another book was in the works—The Winter King (this book), and I've had it on my watchlist since January of last year. Fascinating - highly recommend.

I might have found this annoying if I had gone into The Winter King expecting a high fantasy with romance as the subplot. After taking a chance on the new sub-genre for me with that book, I enjoyed it so much that I thought I should try this one. I enjoyed the characters, and while the world building was elaborate it didn't seem to be too much or overbearing at all. Wyn and some men then go on a visit to see the king of Summerlea and make his demands. Listeners also enjoyed... Lord of the Fading Lands. That's the best word I can come up with to describe my feelings towards this book. I plan to continue with the Weathermages of Mystral series, which are fantasy romance companion novels. There are wars fought to gain power. Did it make you laugh or cry?

And while on the subject of romance, I feel confident in saying this story has none. The world building, history, politics and mythos were fantastic, as were the imaginative details, from clothing and conveniences, to magic, to terrifying monsters. To put it bluntly, there is nothing likable, relatable, or redeeming about his character. Passion and connection were there from Wyn and Kham's first touch but they must find out if it was magic or real. It was the kind of book that I didn't want to put down.

First published July 29, 2014. I just can't get through. I started off loving the book, but the last third I had to push through because the gimkick of twists was not enjoyable anymore. So, give it a listen and judge for yourself. It was delicious torture, i loved from start to finish. The story follows two main characters.

Still I liked the writer's voice and was glad to see that she had written a new book completely separate from that other series. And it's not even as if one character tried to point this solution out and was met with resistance from others. After three bitter years of battle, a victorious Wynter arrives at Summerlea's royal palace to issue his terms of surrender. I have heard great things about this book since its release date. But if you kill everybody what exactly are you king of?

A big unanswered question. Narrated by: Amanda Leigh Cobb. This book is brilliant it takes two very different seeming people and smashes them together, only to find out that they are actually very simular. Wynter is just fabulous throughout the book.

Loved the accent for Winter and enjoyed the tension between the enemies to lovers troupe.
