What a compelling book! The characters were so realistic and gritty, full of texture and growth. This book was not quite what I thought it was going to be but it was better. The one that got away wowhead. Benjamin's world is turned upside down the day he meets Clara. Alternating between Clara's journey to return to Benjamin, and the history of how they came to be, this story is about love - but not in any of the ways you may think. These two couldn't make it work as young people-too much about themselves- and parted.

The story is an emotional roller coaster from start to finish. Both characters struggled with communication which was super frustrating at times. The author has a real skill of empathically showing how we come to relationships in our teens and 20s with many of our own issues, traumas, hopes and fears. Then, you can move between Marshlight, Serpent, or Sporewind last levels can be incredibly arduous and time consuming, but it will be worth it once you can catch whatever fish you want. Yes, their young love was passionate and ferocious but it was also their first true love of which many, myself included, feel the same type of way. I loved this book, I often think that writing in two different timelines in the same book must be difficult but this book does it fantastically well, it is so well written and I didn't want to stop reading because I wanted to know what happened! But, it felt real and true Clara and Benjamin- flawed people with immense regrets who have taken their time to move past and to the moments that have shaped them as a couple. While I could see a few things coming, I never felt like rushing though it.

I hoped they could sort things out. The relationship first starts while they are in college and covers the twenty years that follow. It's not really a second chance romance but it's got good vibes and you'll root for them. Such a powerful book and definitely one I'd recommend picking up! It is a book to read only in the right mental state. The story is much more character driven rather than action driven and it made perfect sense. This book goes through many cycles of the strength and weakness of Clara and Benjamin. I really enjoyed the book and it was beautifully written. The dual timeline brought us back and forth 20 years, seeing a romance unfold, but interspersed with post university life, I loved this and read it in one sitting ❤️❤️. Twenty years later, after a bombing, Clara sees him on TV and goes looking for him, changing both of their lives. Two years together, twenty years apart, but Benjamin is still Clara's first thought when she hears about the suicide bombing at his favorite football stadium. Would definitely not call it a romance book. I'm not sure I've read a book like this before, where it's both a romance and a tragedy that ends with hope but not a truly happy ending. And you can cut that string. Due to the characters' insecurities, pointless arguments, and miscommunication trope, I found it hard to really really want these characters to end up together. Thank you for the ARC! Both these aspects work wonders and are extremely well made, keeping the reader interesting until the end.

Do check the trigger warnings as there are quite a few in this. The dual POVs and alternating timelines kept me up all night reading because I needed to know what the other character was experiencing after getting half of the story. A worthwhile wonderful read. Call of the Forsaken. Who among us doesn't have regrets about the past? I loved them with their flaws.

It was only at the end where they both realized they needed to live again. Yes, the characters acted terribly, making stupid life choices, and causing incredible hurt, but they also felt like real people to me, true to themselves, to the essential people they are at heart. The characters will stay with you long after you finish the book and you will find yourself wishing the story would never end. These three are the most optimal spot to find Highland Mixed School, a type of fish school that contains some of Outlands most desirable fish.
