K-Drama Review: "Bride Of The Water God" Runs An Idyllic Romance Yet Stumbles On A Confused Fantasy Plot

Saturday, 6 July 2024

As was our lead female. The stylists, makeup artists, set designers and special effects team did a great job. I did enjoy the different stages of the relationship we went through, they were just slow going. Despite it being a not so engaging drama that couldn't leave footprints in your heart even at the end of the 16 episodes, there are pretty funny and entertaining moments that we should give them credit for. Even for Im Joo Hwan, their acting was so good that it seemed more like they were the main in this drama.

The Bride Of Habaek Episodes

Cast / Acting: Personally I think the two actors who got the main roles were not the best choice. "A part of your heart stays intact, even if it breaks apart. The acting was fine. I mean how often do you come across a romance plot was has the power to continue itself with just focus solely on 2 leads. The scenes aren't copied. But as love flows freely, they confront their fears and agree to make the most of the time when they can be together. Nam Joo Hyuk may not have had a wide range of facial expressions, but I thought he did a good job in his voice acting, as he had to speak in authoritative sageuk speech throughout the show. Then since he is infamously powerful, he can visit So ah at his will. So, that wraps up my review for Bride of the Water God! I feel there's just so much more depth he could add on to his role. Is this officially the first most *bakwaas kdrama I've ever watched? Perfectly Imperfect RomanceMUST READ REVIEW IF YOU'RE HESITANT TO START THIS DRAMA: This drama is based on a spin off ( original side plot) from the manhwa(Korean comic) with the same name. I asked myself why I preferred this over the main one and I think the reason was the power dynamic.

The Bride Of Habaek Korean Drama Review

The main reasons that attributed to the drama not living up to its hype are: - The scriptwriter made amendments to the story line as it is very similar to Goblin's story, but this intended change may have caused the story to lose its flavour around mid of the drama. When the god of water descends upon Earth and seeks the help of his destined bride, he first has to convince her that he isn't a delusional maniac. And her annoying habit of rambling out her self autobiography showed a sad lack of insight for a therapist. What she doesn't know is that he's a demi-god who was imprisoned since birth and later cast out from the God Country. And when she first meets Habaek she thinks he is delusional. Yoon So Ah is a materialistic bitch who is way too involved in acting like the victim. Maybe after I read the comic, more of the story will fall into place and I'll understand it better, but that's about it. They are played by Gong Myung and Krystal from "f(x)". She's not a difficult character to understand and highly entertaining. If you ask me, I think the rationale as to why the Yoon descendants had to become "servants of the water god" is really something that we may not be able to understand. The story barely made any sense and even when it did, it left you wondering if perhaps they wrote a little bit of the script and then realized how many plot holes it has and then added onto it, which made it very weirdly paced and mostly mellowed out and too chill for what this was originally supposed to be. Much as she was trying so hard to make ends meet and live her life hating and missing her dad, it just somehow doesn't pull at your heart strings the way it was meant to be. A beautiful and famous actress, Moo Ra has a one-sided love with Habaek and understandably dislikes his wife. This one did, and so I did.

He jumped into the water to save her but lost his life in the process. Im debating whether or not to watch Bride of Habaek after I'm done bc I've heard really bad reviews, but I just wanted to ask if anybody actually liked it?? His character is also kind of like a robot being pretty emotionless unless he gets angry. Sorry to disappoint you there's no such plot as that. The scriptwriter mentioned that the storyline is almost the same as "Goblin", thus they have made some amendments. Perhaps it is not just because of the low budget production, acting skills of the main leads but also mainly due to the storyline, that did not make "Bride of the Water God" live up to its initial hype. Will i recommend it to anyone?... If I didn't like them so much I probably would have dropped it after a few episodes since the story just wasn't doing much at that point. But the love for his cherished woman wins, and he forcedly kisses her to give his grace. The characters kept me through the whole story, particularly Habaek played by the ever-wonderful Nam Joo-Hyuk. The biggest surprise for me in this drama was undoubtedly Krystal, because I always thought she wasn't a good actress, but I was completely mistaken, which made me quite happy. I liked the characters and the world that it had created. I enjoyed the heroine because of the relatable nature of her character. I was really moved by his performance and the intensity he was able to deliver.

What we choose to believe in is our truth, be it whether it is the cold hard truth. But when the resolution is revealed, the disarming of Habaek's supernatural abilities finally makes sense to me. Yes... if you really don't have anything better to do. Did he enter the human world 13 years ago, or was it before? The best part of the drama is undoubtedly the CEO Hoo Ye (Im Joo Hwan). Granted Moo Ra hates human females around him because of the past but really?! That scene was nothing more than a bait to capture viewers' attention till the end. I even suspected that the writer was doing house chores while scribbling it so he kept setting it aside, leaving the viewers wondering if the episode was really done or not. Bride of the Water God is hard to deconstruct as a viewer. This drama is the maturest romance drama.

2) There are many others who are being despised because of their background, no matter how successful they are or how much good they are doing now. For the most part, there was nothing to like about Habaek besides his visuals and comedy. In general, I enjoyed the first episode. On the plus side he was VERY cute. Give it a try, the romance and awesome music might just win you over. I couldn't like him. Here's where I was angry with the writers.

Drowning In A Plate of Water. Moo Ra and Bi Ryeom are both powerful gods. Some men do prefer it this way in different parts of the world.

The script was pretty vague. After all, the difficult obstacle of an eternal water god and a human girl falling in love can't be easy right? But on the plus side, I eventually seemed to just get comfortable with the drama despite its shortcomings. According to the writers, Habaek will continue living on Earth with Yoon So Ah, who will age and die eventually if she doesn't die unnaturally following which Habaek will return to the God Country and rule as king. Before the series, I read the English translated manga but I was not done with it yet because the translated ones are not finished, but I heard that the Korean version was already done.
