The short finishes seem to be commonplace with this toro. Always impresa with the intensity of these quick smokes. The H. Upmann by AJ Fernandez Robusto is a 5" x 52 stick that immediately catches the eye with a stunning Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper leaf. The finish keeps the similar earthiness, now joined by burnt coffee, saltiness, peanut butter and black pepper. In that regard, I think the cigar does very well. The first third of a lit H. Fernandez Toro floods the palate with the flavors of café con leche, marzipan, and malted barley. 18″ speaker encased in 24 ply Swedish wood. One thing I did find interesting is that the Robusto size is thinner than both the Toro and the Churchill—which curiously share the same ring gauge (traditionally having 50 and 47 ring gauges, respectively). Within the first half-inch, the retrohale completely calms down, forcing the attention towards a creamy tobacco sweetness reminiscent of a sweet vanilla cavendish pipe tobacco. There have been many different attempts by two of the giants of the American cigar industry—Altadis U. S. A. and General Cigar Co. —in using AJ Fernandez to make the company's cigars. The H. The lavish experience unleashes intense spice, cedar, coffee and almond flavors onto the palate, building layer upon layer of deliciousness throughout the medium-to-full bodied adventure. At its core, it's still led by earthiness, joined by a familiar harshness that is more irritation than pepper, soy-sauce like notes and some black pepper, though it's only in the nostrils whereas most of the rest of the flavors are in both the nose and mouth. J. breaks out some of his finest Nicaraguan tobaccos to be used in the binder/filler. I've already gone through two boxes, it is a daily "go to" for me and each time I sit down with this cigar I'm constantly surprised by how well the chocolate, spice, and sweetness go together. A rich tobacco sweetness accentuated with hearty notes of dark roast coffee, hazelnut, cedar, and subtle hints of spice will have you savoring every fragrant draw. It is very smooth which is the antithesis of my expectations. From the clipped cap and the foot, I can smell red pepper, milk chocolate, sweet cream, cinnamon, nutmeg, cedar, vanilla, black cherries, charred oak, and honey. You will notice a rich tobacco sweetness accentuated with hearty notes of dark roast coffee, hazelnut, and cedar.
