The thread in the upper part of my machine gets hung and breaks. Once I knew sewing was something I'd do for the rest of my life and fixing things on my Brother machine was costing more than its purchase price, I began researching brands and saving. 5k + machine lasted a year and now it WILL NOT reboot. However, the staggering $12, 999 MSRP on the 830 machine is WAY out of my comfort zone. Location: central California. I have had multiple issues with it. I was able to negotiate a price with the Bernina dealer taking this out of the equation, so if it is something you aren't interested in it is worth asking to opt out of. To that degree, it's my fault. And I have tried to make it work, I really if I can't make a machine work, then there's something wrong with it. The 8 Series was released about 4 years ago, and my Bernina dealer made several valiant attempts to sell me on this machine. You can barely see it in the picture below and would be awesome for applique! Please feel free to share your thoughts with us too.
