A Touch of Darkness Characters. I was first under the impression that is was going to be an enemies to lovers story since that is what everyone had been saying when recommending this book, but that was not what this was, at best it was disgruntled to lovers. For one, she was a reporter—a terrible one at that; two, she constantly doubted and misjudged poor Hades to be the worst of the worst despite being proven otherwise; three, I didn't like the mother daughter relationship she had with Demeter. Except maybe Aphrodite, but she was only there for like 3 pages. ) BookTok made me read this series and I'm glad I did! By: Caroline Gibson. P. s not hatting on this book.

Flaws of characters a main focus? Is this book part of a series? Ahhhhhhhhh that seems like a pretty fair trade to me. "she was a fashionista with a sleeve of tattoos. While there, Persephone sees a mysterious darkly handsome man staring at her from the balcony. This was unexpectedly compelling to read. Honestly, no regrets because I'm loving Lore, but I did want to make note that I noticed several story similarities between Lore Olympus and A Touch of Darkness, such as the roommate relationship between Persephone and Artemis/Lexa, the assistant position of Minthe, and Hermes and Persephone being relatively buddy-buddy to name a few. Character: 56% | A mix: 33% | Plot: 9%. As a huntsman of the Church, Reid Diggory has lived his life by one principle: Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. It's stated a few pages or so afterwards that "she didn't want the God of the Dead fighting her battles for her", though "Hades would be the last resort, a card she would pull if she couldn't find a solution. But she soon realizes he is using her for his own goals, and he doesn't care who he hurts along the way. After avoiding this obligation for too long, the time has come for him to take a harem and prove that he's capable of continuing his family's bloodline. I expected this from him. And as for the side characters... Lexa is the standard best friend in books like these. For nearly 400 years, the Veil has protected us from the Fae of Alfheimr. To me it felt like it was just added to the novel only for teh author to be able to explain the sudden change in Persephone which honestly it didn't. She was, um, annoying. But still, there are a few sex scenes. I don't really have much else to say, so let's end on the high note that is the ending of A Touch Of Darkness. This is pretty much the equivalent to reading a modern au fanfic.

I want to start this off by saying I'm not usually a critical reader of smut. Used to control, he is not prepared to discover the Fates have chosen his future wife and queen - Persephone, goddess of spring. Gold floors, gold walls, gold furniture, gold clothes. Blade took me to pay off a debt. They did have some sweet moments, but not enough to claim that they love each other. There was even a "rescue" scene where she was drunk and he saved her from another man.

It's gross and problematic. She really gave the characters & the story life. I don't just mean that characters make illogical choices (although there's plenty of that, too). "Did I say sexual frustration? AND ALSO IT SEEMS LIKE HADES VALUES MORE A VIRGIN!?!?!?!?!? But my words don't affect him.

The plot is largely minor struggles, with her bargain with Hades taking up the lead. This review contains a spoiler. This book was terrible, but our collective rants made it worth it 😩.
The thought of investing time into a longer series following one couple with an untested author was a little daunting, and thankfully King of Battle and Blood got me hooked on St Clair's writing. Decent book and terrible narration.. - By Trish R. on 10-31-19. All she does is whine, demand and sulk, then demands some more. Welcome once more to my favorite and most hated section: BIG HYPE, BIG LIE. However, Persephone remarks that the photos getting out and confirming the relationship would be damaging for two reasons: Demeter finding out and attaching a label to a relationship seemingly built from a contract in which Persephone feels she is a prisoner. But Minthe wants Hades for herself. I think maybe if St. Clair had saved this reveal for the very end of the book, rather than forty-ish pages from the end, it would've had it's intended impact? But when they eventually come together, the whole relationship is very passionate. Does she want to trust Hades and challenge her preconceived notions of him?
